Columbus Day

  • In describing your celebratory ideas to your director, you need to identify why you’ve chosen to celebrate Columbus day in the manner that have decided.
  • A thesis statement indicating whether Columbus Day should still be a holiday in the modern world.
  • How this day should be commemorated based on the evidence provided in your research. You must include at least two sources in your persuasive proposal.
  •  You must include why you have decided on your specific ideas and how they will impact the individual’s involved, i.e Americans, Native Americans, students, citizens, etc..
  • Refute the opposition to solidify your point of view.
  • You must take on the role of a committee member and address the issue with a professional attitude, which includes language usage and grammar.
  • Phase 1: During this initial phase you will brainstorm how we currently celebrate Columbus Day. You will then read about how we celebrated Columbus Day in the past. This will help you answer the question, What does Columbus Day means in the United States?

    Brainstorm: How do we celebrate Columbus Day today? What does Columbus Day represent? What does it mean? List five ways that we either celebrate the day, remember  Christopher Columbus, remember the discovery of America, and remember the colonization of America.

    how we celebrate Columbus Day.
