1. Final Project Proposal (2 pages), 50 points

Final Project: Choose one of the essays from this hybrid section. Do outside research (at least four outside sources) and model your essay on one of the above models using the outside research to help you develop an implicit argument. You will not have an overt thesis statement, but your message/ overarching idea must build throughout the essay.

For example, let’s say you choose Nicole Walker’s “Carbs” as a model. You could design a hybrid essay on food. Depending on your background, this could mean an essay on making your food background match up with your husband’s background. I had a student once who did her essay on the spork. She was from Denmark and she said the spork perfectly represented the very distinct differences between her culture and her husband’s. She combined her own stories of meal time with her husband’s family and research she did on the advent of the spork.

It could mean an essay on dieting with your experiences interlaced with research on dieting.

Basically, the aim of the assignment is to mix your own non fiction experiences with research you do in the databases.

*If you are not familiar with the research databases, please email me for direction.

Directions for the proposal:

You will propose two ideas for this project.

In four paragraphs (two paragraphs for each idea), briefly outline your idea for this project. Please present your favored idea first and briefly explain why you prefer it over the other idea.
