Campaigns and Elections

The recent political article I have chosen for this assignment is titled: “GOP ad to rip Clinton’s “dead broke” comment during CNN, Fox interviews.” The article is about an advert being run by the republicans snubbing a comment made by Hillary Clinton that they Bill left Statehouse in 2000 very broke. Clinton had claimed that she and Bill struggled to raise fees for their daughter and even for houses. II got the article from USA Today Politics.

Summary of the Article:

The article by Moore captures the first interview of a book by Hillary Clinton titled “Hard Choices”, and also the attention and earning the Clintons are making from the sale of books. The article informs the audience of the interviews that Hilary has scheduled both with CNN, Fox news and other media houses. While Clinton is interviewed, the Republican National Committee runs an ad that snubs Clinton’s commend that they left the Statehouse while very broke. The republicans wonder how the Clinton can make such comments, even having come from the party that opposes students’ debt relief and pay equity.

My Reaction to the Article:

I think the republicans’ sentiments are valid, since the head of state is protected by the law/constitution, and is entitled to some state benefits, even when they retire. The claims by Hilary Clinton that they left the Highest Office in the land broke are, therefore, ridiculous. It beats logic for a former first lady to claim that they struggled with rent and fees just after leaving Statehouse. Basing on the fact that there are rumors that Clinton may be running for president, one would like to wonder how she managed her family to experience financial difficulties after two terms in the Statehouse. By interacting with such criticism, and also her new book “Hard Choices,” I will be able to make a choice whether she can make a good president for me, or not. I think this is a good article since the subject is important in American politics.
