Students are required to complete hours at a non profit organization. In this assignment, the focus is on Third Street Community Center.
For this assignment students will observe behaviors of the client population, focusing on a range of behaviors including: prosocial behaviors (empathy, kindness, generosity), aggression, peer relations, and emotional regulation. After observing behaviors presented, an interview with a staff member should take place to discuss how these behaviors are supported, changed, and/or discouraged. Support the practice of the direct service staff (case managers, mentors, etc.) with one or more social-emotional developmental theories. If this is absent, which theoretical model could the agency use to support social and emotional development in their clients?
