o A description of the pathogen – ie. cell or viral structure, Gram reaction (if pathogen is
bacterial), genome characteristics (if pathogen is viral)
o The nature of the disease – ie. diagnosis of the disease, signs, symptoms & progression of
the disease, pathogenic mechanism within host and, if applicable, pertinent historical
information related to the disease.
o Epidemiology of the Disease: ie. identify individuals most at risk and explain the mode of
transmission
o Treatment and Prevention of Disease.
