Although professional associations play an important role in the development of nursing as a profession, many nurses do not belong to these organizations. These associations provide valuable resources to their members as well as to non-member nurses and the general public. However, these organizations provide their members with a breadth of additional resources based on each organization’s goals and the ability to take part in leadership opportunities.
