Does the positive thinking may effect someone’s life? Does people who have positive
thinking are really have different life? At first glance, Everyone may say yes. We know that
people have different thinking. Some people have positive thinking while the others have
negative thinking. But why there is negative thinking? Did you ever seen anyone has a
Permanent disease like cancer? could you think how these people feel and how they can thinking
positively while they know that they are going to die. Pathologies of Hope by Barbara
Ehrenreich wrote this essay to criticize the study of positive thinking and convinces an audience
that it is more beneficial to be realistic than to have false hope. His purpose behind writing was
to show that positive thinking can not heal the sick or rescue people
from die.
Summary of the essay:
This essay explains how these people who have positive thinking has different life from
those who have negative thinking. The author shows her idea about hope and why she hated
hope. She didn’t believe in hope because she has cancer so she was trying to explain her idea by
giving many examples about how could hope work on human life. Actually, people who have
positive thinking are the same in some way for those who believe in hope because they are quite
similar. Customary, people who have positive thinking are happier than those who have negative
thinking and she mentions that in her essay. Also, she reports that most people like to be around
the people who has positive thinking which add something positive for those people. To sum up,
when you are thinking positively you have to be optimistic all the time. On the other hand, the
people who think negatively, they will be a pessimist all the time.
