Assessment 3 Destination Report

Assessment 3 Destination Report

Attractions contribute significantly to a destination on a local, regional, national or even global level. Different stakeholders take an interest in destinations for

many reasons. For example, government may analyse a destination for planning purposes, industry regularly undertakes competitive analysis of other destinations and

visitors consider different destinations when making decisions.
The purpose of this report is to;
• demonstrate the role of attractions in destination development;
• apply destination development theory;
• consider the impact of issues on destination stakeholders.

Using the attraction you reported on in your “Attraction Report”; find a similar attraction in a destination outside Melbourne. It can be anywhere in Australia or

anywhere in the world! For example Eureka Tower, Melbourne (Attraction report) – Burj Khalifa, Dubai (Destination report).
Your project must include the following key criteria:
a) Briefly describe the attraction you have selected (site, size, main markets, ownership, type of experience) and the identify the destination where the attraction is

located (max 250 words)
b) Explain the destination (type, size, other attractions and services available for visitors, the attraction mix)
c) Identify the main market/s (source market, demographics, visitation patterns) and how the destination is currently marketed to these potential visitors.
d) Assess the stage of development of this destination
e) Project how technological, economic, social or environmental issues may impact this destination in the future.
