Antidepressants are Overprescribed

Gun Control, Capital Punishment, Abortion, Euthanasia, Drinking Age Law, School Uniforms, Prayer in Schools, War in Iraq/Afghanistan, Homosexual Marriage, Cloning, Compensation for College Athletes

                                                           

Objective:       You are to prepare a thoughtful, well-researched essay that argues your position on a current CONTROVERSIAL problem and offers a solution to that problem.  The essay must:

 

  • define the issue
  • state your position on the issue
  • offer reasons to support your position
  • provide adequate support for each reason
  • entertain the opposition
  • offer a counterargument
  • provide a viable solution to solve the problem
  • detail the implementation of your proposed solution (worth expense, time, and effort)
  • how to implement the plan in a cost effective or convenient way
  • entertain objections to your solution
  • respond to objections.
  • provide a well developed conclusion

Audience:  An attentive group of people who are unfamiliar with the details of your issue.  You are not to assume that they are aware of the issue or the circumstances surrounding the issue.

 

Research Requirements:      This essay requires a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of six (6)

credible sources (magazine article, statistical report, newspaper, article from an online

database), so you will need in-text citations and a works cited  page.  The works cited page

is NOT included in the page length requirement.  Wikipedia, an encyclopedia, random

websites, and information posted directly to the internet are not legitimate sources.
