Title: Pick a culturally contested kinship arrangement (e.g. surrogate motherhood, gay marriage, adoption, incest, divorce, IVF, etc.)

1.In your own words, explain how and why anthropologists study kinship relations how does something as personal as family organization” influence larger cultural, political and economic institutions?
2.Discuss the kinship arrangement in your title why is it contested and what are the arguments on either side? Make sure you contextualize this within a certain culture (you can just specify American culture). Make sure to use examples from your own experiences, history and/or popular culture.
