One -page critical reading reaction,
In your critical reading reaction you must engage critically with one key concept or idea from the reading. To engage critically does not mean that you criticize the concept or the text from which it was taken. While critically engaging with a concept may mean that you ultimately challenge it, it first involves a number of preliminary steps. Specifically,  you are needed to do the following in your one-page reactions:
a) Identify what the concept/idea is, including where in the text you have found it (ideally it will appear more than once across the text);
b) Explain what you think the concept/idea means in the context of the text;
c) Explain how the concept relates to, expands, and/or challenges concepts/ideas presented both in the reading for that week and, where appropriate, in previous weeks”””””””””””””””” readings; and
d) Relate the concept or idea to contemporary political and/or social debates. As you do this you will be both explicating an idea from the reading and reacting to it.
