America evolved from agricultural to the world’s most powerful and important industrial power in the first half of 19th century

What excited me most in my reading is that America evolved from agricultural to the world’s most powerful and important industrial power in the first half of 19th century. Due to enough natural resources and a good enterprise system, with a well organized education system, America was able to lead the most powerful country in the world and has retained the position up to date. This issue, therefore, gives an explanation as to why America is the way it is today.

Many historians have differed in accessing the second half of the century. There has been the development of many and new industrial technologies, accumulation of wealth, and expansion of middle class. On the other hand, the concentration of the wealth is for a few in the country, with unfair and unsafe working conditions and a lot of social crime such as robbery with violence, without neglecting female and child labor.

In the first half of 19th century, the United States had changed dramatically. Eleven more states were established and added to the existing thirteen states which showed that the United States was expanding at an alarming rate. This expansion was brought about by an intervention of the military in Spanish Florida which was claimed through a treaty in 1819 by the United States. The United States had claimed political independence in 1776, but it came to pass in the half of the 19th century

There emerged a religious movement which was known as the Second Great Awakening which helped in transforming the nation in this particular period. The American Protestantism in the 19th century helped greatly to reinforce the modern political and economic development that brought about a new nation.
