X. Tiang, S.R. Wilson, K.R. Solomon, M. Shao, S. Madronica. (Feb 2011). Changes in Air Quality & Tropospheric Composition Due to Depletion of Stratospheric Ozone & Interactions with Climate. Photochemical &b Photobiological Sciences, Vol.10, Issue 2, p280-291.
The authors of this article inform the general public and scientific minds as well that air pollution will be influenced by future changes in emission of pollutants which will in turn     affect human health and the environment. The authors support their points by mainly       discussing air quality, troposphere, ozone layer depletion, climatology, air pollution, ultraviolet radiation, photochemical smog, hydroxyl group and volatile organic             compounds. The authors of the article cite UV radiation as one of the controlling factors   for the formation of photochemical smog, which includes Tropospheric ozone and      aerosols. They further show that UV radiation also initiates production of hydroxyl radicals that help in controlling the amount of many climate and ozone relevant gases.   Amongst other things, the article shows that a continued emission of anthropogenic air      pollutants €“fossil fuels- and intensity in agriculture around the globe would in the next          four decades lead to an increase in the concentration of troposheric ozone. The article          shows the glam side of the atmosphere and the climate if we do not take necessary steps          to ensure a reduction in the atmospheric pollutants that have been mentioned to have             adverse effects on the climate.

the article gives the history surrounding ozone layer depletion. It lays the blame on            General Motors Corp which is backdated to 1928. The article puts it that, scientific             studies have shown an increase €“in fact a doubling- in emissions of substances scientifically known to change the atmosphere since 1973. The article, also, explains the     steps that have been taken to ensure that the ozone layer is protected; it shows how the     government has tried to ensure protection of the ozone layer.

The article gives an overview of what legislations and conventions have managed to          achieve so far in the protection of the ozone layer. The article takes us through the    various protocols that have been used by the international community to help in     protection of the ozone layer. It shows why the Montreal Protocol (the first protocol on environmental protection) had much success in fostering international responsibility between various countries towards the protection of the ozone layer and the environment. It gives us the valuable lessons learnt from the Protocol and explains why we need those to use those lessons as a guideline to formulate effective international success in promoting climate change. The article further takes us through the Kyoto Protocol (which is the current Protocol) and explains why it views the Kyoto Protocol has failed to ensure promoting proper climatic change. It explains that the Kyoto Protocol failed by deviating away from some of the most important environmental legal principles that helped the Montreal Protocol to foster the international spirit of cooperation towards a positive and desired climate change. The writers propose that since the Kyoto Protocol is set to expire this year (2012) the factors that made the Montreal Protocol a success should be incorporated in the next protocol on climate change.
